Meet Our Team

Amy JL Cook, DDS.

Dr. Cook

A Renton native, Dr. Cook earned a Bachelor of Arts in and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Washington (2002 and 2006 respectively). Areas of interest for her include implantology and oral pathology. Dr. Cook is a lifelong learner and constantly attends continuing education courses, expanding her knowledge in sleep dentistry, implantology, tongue and lip ties and implant-retained dentures. She joined the practice in 2006 as an associate dentist for Dr. MaryJo Burns and purchased the practice in 2008. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Seattle-King County Dental Society, and the Washington State Dental Association and has served as a delegate to all three organizations.

Dr. Cook has lobbied in Olympia for dental patients and in 2015 drafted the origin of a piece of legislation (HB 1002) that passed unanimously through the Washington State House and Senate ensuring same-day emergency care coverage and insurance company spending reporting. Dr. Cook is on call for dementia/Alzheimer’s residents at the Weatherly Inn in Kent and offers house calls for patients with mobility issues.

She has served on the Board of Directors for the Washington State Dental Association, Executive Council for the Seattle-King County Dental Society, the South King Multicare Foundation Board, the Washington Leadership Council for Donated Dental for the Disabled, and the Blue Ribbon Committee for a Healthy Auburn. Dr. Cook actively promotes access to care for our poor and vulnerable populations and personally treats patients for Donated Dental Services for the Disabled, Domestic Abuse Women’s Network, Medicaid patients, Alzheimer’s patients, and Everyone for Veterans. She is on call 24-hours for her patients. She has been a leader in the effort to reduce opioid addiction and death through her efforts with various entities including the Drug Enforcement Agency, NW High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Washington State Attorney General, for whom she was a panelist for his Opioid Summit at the University of Washington.

Outside the office, Dr. Cook enjoys time with her husband and their four sons. She attempts to play bluegrass fiddle and also enjoys reading, knitting, boating, and cooking. Meeting new people through dentistry adds to her life experience and she is grateful for the opportunity.

Zoe Fernyhough, DDS.

Team Member since 2017
Dr. Fernyhough is a Seattle area native. She was born in Seattle and grew up in Redmond, Washington.  She attended the University of Washington for undergrad and received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology while actively volunteering at the Seattle Union Gospel Mission and Roots Young Adult Shelter.  For dental school, Dr. Fernyhough attended the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California.  During dental school, she volunteered through multiple organizations to provide care to veterans and families in need, as well as hosting multiple leadership conferences. 
 
Dr. Fernyhough has strong skills and experience in CEREC technology (same – day crowns), and Invisalign  She has a passion for providing patients with high quality traditional crowns, implant crowns, and minimally invasive onlays and inlays.
Outside the office she can be found hiking with her two dogs, baking, or fly fishing on the rivers around Washington State and Mexico.

Front Desk

Christie

Office Manager

Christie is a great office resource at our front desk in the areas of dental insurance processing, dental software systems and front desk management that comes from her experience in dental offices since 1997.
She excels at multi-tasking and unraveling the many challenges of processing dental insurance claims for our patients.

Ashley

Assistant Manager
Team Member since 2018
Ashley always enjoyed going to the dentist, so it made sense to make it her career. She became a Registered Dental Assistance in 2014 and has worked as a dental front desk representative since then.  Ashley enjoys helping our patients by building relationships with them and helping them understand their dental benefits better. Her co-workers describe her as friendly and having a positive attitude.
Outside the office, she likes to camp with her husband and kids, read, and watch movies. 

Nina

Patient Coordinator

I started in dental (dentures/removables) in 2019, after 12 years in veterinary medicine.

As a patient services representative, I enjoy helping patients maximize their benefits, building relationships with them, and helping them to feel comfortable and confident in their oral health.

In my free time, I enjoy yard games, pickleball, hiking, lake days, weekly bingo nights, and home projects with my family.

Darniece

Office Tech

Darniece is always willing to help with all tasks at hand to help the office run smoothly and works hard at all she does. At home, she enjoys artistic activities like writing, drawing, coloring, movies, music, and singing. She loves spending time with her three dogs.

 

Dental Assistants

Kyrstin, RDA

Kyrstin’s favorite clinical procedures are helping restore broken, decayed teeth with crowns and implant crowns.  Her co-workers describe her as self-motivated, flexible, trustworthy and a great problem-solver.  What Krystin loves about Cook Family Dentistry is the efficiency and organization that helps things run smoothly and the homey environment.

Her hobbies outside work are riding side-by-sides, hiking, camping, and spending time with her family.

Sydney, RDA

Sydney loves helping her patients find relief through many different clinical procedures, especially extractions. Sydney loves that Cook Family Dentistry is the welcoming environment, and that the office offers such a wide range of treatment options for patients of all ages. Outside of work, Sydney enjoys spending time outside, coaching and playing lacrosse, and being around family.

My name is Anya. I have been a Dental Assistant since 2021. I was born and raised in Ukraine and moved to Seattle in 2002. What I enjoy most about dentistry is the joy I see on my patients’ faces after we work together to fix any issues from a small cavity to a whole new smile. I believe that going to work holds something new and is an opportunity to make sure our patients feel comfortable and happy. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, attending church, and staying busy with my family and friends.

Kaylee graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. As a Washington native, she attended Pierce College and has been working around the South Puget Sound in private practice since. 

Outside the office she loves to travel with her husband and spend time with family and friends.
